Almost Here...

The initial band of precip across Northern CA has been nearly stationary the past 12 hours. The models have slowed the timing of the start of the snow this morning, as the band of precip crawls toward the area. This is good news if you are traveling up to the area this morning.

We should see the snow start to push in by this afternoon.  That also means the snowfall amounts for today were cut back a little but still expecting 3-6 inches on the mountain by this evening. The other change is to shorten the storm a little on Monday as the last wave looks like it will come in Sunday afternoon into Sunday night and clear out pretty fast Monday morning.

Other than that no changes as the same amount of snow is still expected with the heaviest snow Saturday and again Sunday afternoon. Total expected snowfall by Monday morning is 3-4 feet at the base and 4-6 feet on the mountain.

Christmas Day looks dry and then some of the forecast models have the next storm pushing in as early as Tuesday night. This is another cold storm and could drop another 1-2 feet on the mountain Wednesday, with the snow possibly lingering into Thursday.

For next weekend and beyond the forecast models are struggling with the pattern. Some continue the storms right through the first week of January while others have the ridge in the Pacific a little closer to the coast keeping the storms to our North. Let's get through all of the snow coming in the next week and then we should have a much clearer picture of what is coming for the New Year.
