More Snow This Weekend

Temperatures are warming up pretty quickly this morning ahead of the storm approaching the coast, especially in the higher elevations. We will see sun and then some clouds today with temperatures up into the 30's to near 40. It is going to be a beautiful day on the slopes except for winds up top increasing to 30 mph and gusts to 45.

The approaching storm is going to split with the South piece rotating into CA and then South. Fairly good model agreement this morning of a tenth to a quarter of an inch of liquid falling over the basin tonight and Sunday. That is very little moisture but we would squeeze out 1-3 inches of snow at the base and 2-4 on the mountain.  There is a chance that some heavier precip could rotate in South of the Lake on Sunday and we could pick up twice as much snow than resorts to our North.

Monday through Wednesday the temperatures moderate again ahead of a big Arctic front that is headed our way. Temperatures will rise into the 40's by Wednesday and then the winds and clouds should increase as the cold front approaches. Temperatures behind the front Thursday through the weekend could be the coldest yest this season with highs barely breaking 20 degrees at the base and staying in the teens on the mountain.

The track of the cold front a slightly more over water on the latest forecast model runs. We could pick up several inches of snow Wednesday night into Thursday with the cold front. We will have to fine tune the snowfall amounts for this system over the next few day. Right now it looks like just several inches but up to a foot could be possible at the summit if some of the wetter forecast model forecasts verify.

The cold continues next weekend and we could see another weak system drop from the North bringing more snow showers.
