3 Inches & Snowing Hard

Heavy band of snow pushed through the area between 4-6 a.m. That dropped snow levels all the way down to the base. As of the 5 a.m. measurement we had 3 inches of snow, but it has been snowing hard all morning since the measurement.

We should see the heaviest snow bands moving through this morning.  We are on track with the snowfall forecast so far. The mountain should double today what fell overnight bringing the totals to 4-8 inches.

We may have some lingering snow showers tonight but not expecting more than an additional inch or so.

A cold trough will setup from the Pacific NW down through the Rockies through this weekend. That will keep us cool with highs only in the 40's through the weekend.

Next week the ridge off the coast will flatten and then setup further off the coast as low pressure moves towards the West Coast. By Tuesday it will be off the coast and we could see more snow as early as Tuesday. Most of the forecast models agree that low pressure and a trough will hang around the West Coast most of the second half of next week. That would keep the chances for snow around from Wednesday into the following weekend.

They aren't showing any big storms but colder and unsettled weather hanging around for several days. It will be interesting to watch how things setup because the snow could start to pile up after several days of precip over the area. Cold and unsettled next week will definitely be the opposite of warm and dry last week.

We have been expecting the last 2 weeks of March and first 2 weeks of April to be the most active since December. With the storm today, more possible next week, and more the week after, we will at least be way more active than January and February. Hopefully we can pull at least one big storm out of the mix the next few weeks.
