More Snow Wednesday

Happy St. Patrick's Day! There are no clouds in the sky this morning but it is cool and a little breezy with the storm moving by to our North. We may see some clouds today from that as well. Highs up on the mountain may only be in the 40's with some wind so wind chills may make it feel like it is only in the 30's.

Tomorrow brief ridging builds along the West Coast with slight warming and lighter winds The European forecast model is the fastest in spreading in the precip on Tuesday. Some of the model runs bring in enough precip for 1-3 inches of snow during the day on top of the mountain. We should at least see increasing clouds and wind, with some light precip moving in during the day.

The heavier snowfall moves in overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning, with lingering showers possible in Wednesday night. Most of the forecast models are all a little stronger with the storm this morning as they push the polar jet further South on Wednesday creating more instability and lower snow levels. Snow levels start up around 7000 ft. but drop to the base Tuesday night.  We could see 6-9 inches at the base and 9-15 inches on the mountain by Wednesday night.

The ridge of high pressure builds back in pretty quickly starting Thursday with mild temps again by next weekend. Highs look like they may only reach the 50's though instead of the 60's. We may only have to wait about a week for another storm as the European forecast model runs now agree with the consistent GFS forecast model in bringing a decent cold storm in around the 27th.

The way the teleconnection patterns are forecasting to setup the last week of the month into the first week of April may be our best shot at a few back to back systems. BA
