No big changes to the forecast since the last post, still on track for much colder air and snow arriving by Thursday afternoon.
Looking for 3-6 inches at the base and 6-10 inches on the mountain by Friday afternoon. The snow will start around lunch time on Thursday with the heaviest snow Thursday night, and snow showers lingering into Friday.
The cold air will stick around through the weekend and into early next week. The ridge will be rebuilding off the coast and we will stay dry through mid-week with slightly warming temps.
As the ridge shifts North next week energy will be trying to cut underneath. The GFS forecast model has a weak system coming into CA next Thursday. The European forecast model has a colder system dropping down from the Gulf of Alaska next Thursday and is not showing the energy coming underneath the ridge. Either way the next chance of precip will be about another week out from the storm this Thursday.
The forecast models are really struggling with the long-range. It does look like we will see colder air pouring into the West the end of next week and beyond. As we go past mid-month we should move more towards cold AND storms. BA
