Finally A Snow Day!

It looks and feels like a storm outside this morning which is a nice change from the sunny days.

You can see the cold front and associated precip band approaching this morning on radar. The snow should begin to fall by early afternoon. Most of the snow will fall this afternoon and evening with lingering snow showers overnight.

The main low will drop down the coast and then move inland to our South. For some reason that keeps happening with all of the systems recently. That should keep most of the moisture on Friday to our West, then South, then East. So unless we see some convective snow showers pop up Friday not expected much more accumulation.

Total snowfall by Friday morning looks like it will be 2-4 inches at the base and 4-8 inches on the mountain.

After that we have cold air around through the weekend with plenty of sunshine. The ridge will begin to build in off the coast and we will start to warm back into the 40's by the middle of next week.

It may not last long as we are looking at a colder pattern developing. High pressure looks like it will build in the Gulf of Alaska and cold air will pour down the West Coast by the end of next week. The European forecast model still has a weak system for Thursday. The GFS forecast model holds off until next weekend. It looks like a cold and snow showery pattern could be developing for week 2.

The long-range models do hint at the jet stream cutting in around or just after the 20th. We will keep watching for a wet pattern to develop week 3 and beyond. Pray for snow.
