A little surprise this morning of a fresh inch of snow. We were only expecting up to a dusting from the weak short wave moving through this morning. That brings the 3 day total to 7 inches. If only that could be our luck with the bigger storms.
The forecast models still don't agree on how far South the jet stream will push on Saturday. We could see a few inches on the mountains if the higher end of the forecast were to verify.
The ridge begins to build over the West next week and it now looks like the final 2 waves for Monday night and Tuesday night will stay just to our North.
By midweek the forecast models really start to diverge. The European model builds the ridge over the West all the way up into Canada pushing the storm track into Alaska by next weekend. It does try to cut some energy under the ridge into CA. Week 2 it has a cut-off low slowly approaching the coast and pushing inland around the 7th.
The GFS model has a flatter ridge and a stronger jet stream aimed at the Pacific NW by the end of next week. It then pushes it South into CA with several stronger storms the week of the 3rd.
I would start to get excited but the European model has the +PNA pattern on its side and it is completely opposite precip wise for CA. They are both being consistent so it will be interesting to watch the trend over the next week.
