Sierra picked up 5 inches of snow from the quick hitting cold front that moved through Thursday afternoon.
We may see some snow showers start to pop up on the back side of the departing low over Nevada during the day on Friday. We could pick up another inch or so of snow depending on if or where the snow showers develop.
The cold air is around for the weekend as the ridge builds off the coast keeping us dry for another week. We will start to warm next week before cold air starts to push down from the North by the end of the week. The next chance of snow looks to be next weekend as a weak system drops down the coast on the backside of the trough over the West.
The teleconnection forecasts are catching onto the anticipated pattern change for the later in the month. They are lining up very similar to what we saw back in December. That forecast points towards coast to coast storms and cold from California to the Carolinas. Right now no big storms in long-range forecast but we are expecting that to change over the next week or two.
